Painting

Painting for me is about subtlety and color. I love using thick oil paint, a palette knife, and responding immediately to what is happening on the canvas. I find it a welcome respite from the technicality and obsessive carefulness I implement during printmaking. Over the past years, my art has been a reflection of the deepening connection with the garden that I planted myself by hand. My tender familiarity with the plants is embedded in each painting, along with my Impressionist and Fauvist taste in color, including thick paint and loosely brushed areas. Capturing the subtle colors of plants as they filter through my vision, along with their individual textures and growth habits is a spiritual path that hones my presence and wonder of the world at large.
